In addition to great tasting crawfish Louisiana is in the middle of the shrimp rush.

AAA-HEEEE! Pray for more rain. A little rain goes a long way for increasing crawfish production so say a few extra prayers if you want the season to keep on producing an abundance.

As production increases we have seen falling pricing on live as well as fresh tail meat. This just helps everyone host those famous, or should I say infamous, crawfish boils Louisiana is so well known for throughout our Nation. In addition to great tasting crawfish Louisiana is in the middle of the shrimp rush. The traditional Brown shrimp season began this month. With the season gearing up in the production mode the prices continue to drop and the demand is in a marginal movement so there is no better time like the present to begin to start to take positions on your products if you are a restaurateur. If you are a FOODIE like all of us here at Bell Foods remember to ask your favorite restaurant if they carry Louisiana Shrimp Products. Personally I like the brown shrimp as much or more than the white shrimp. Brown shrimp have a denser consistency and a richer flavor in my humble opinion as long as they are caught East of the Texas coast line and especially when they are caught in the inside water areas during the prime time of the shrimp season. Shrimp are good boiled, fried, steamed stir fried, stuffed, broiled or baked. This commentary shall feature my families favorite stuffed shrimp and BBQ Shrimp. Enjoy the recipes and happy heat because it looks like it is going to be another Louisiana boil down here in Cajun Country.

With the month of May in full spring most everyone should be paying attention to seasonal pricing.

Welcome to the Bell Foods Market Watch Commentary. As the current Sales & Marketing Director for Bell Foods I have had an extensive amount of experience in the seafood business.

One of my areas of expertise is taking seasonal market positions on seafood products like shrimp, crawfish tails, crabmeat and gumbo crabs. With the month of May in full spring most everyone should be paying attention to seasonal pricing. For those with the capacity to take positions on products at this time of year you are in a good position to bottom out your costs and fix your pricing for your menus for the remainder of the year and even into the 2010 Lenten season. If you are not in a position like that to maximize your investment dollar don’t give up on the idea of a seasonal position. Bell Foods offers a wide variety of financing options and fixed annual pricing for our existing and new customers. When placing your next order with Bell Foods for your seasonal position please inquire about our many categories to prep, cook, plate and send home leftovers by going to WWW.BELLFOODS.NET or by calling 866-790-BELL (2355).

The next decent hit for restaurateurs is Mother’s Day. Mother’s day is special because Mom’s aren’t supposed to cook on that day. You good Husbands and kids out there should be taking Mom out to eat to her favorite local restaurant.

My wife Ashley serves our home throughout the year and it is an honor to treat her to a special day for all of her hard work. Mother’s day doesn’t have to be a budget blower to make it a special day for mom. If you can’t afford a high end white table cloth restaurant for this special day then don’t worry. We are in the Southeast Louisiana and the Gulf Coast region of the United States. We are located to some of the best neighborhood restaurants in the world that always have special deals.

Bosco’s Italian Restaurant in Mandeville is really affordable and Tony Bosco’s food is incredible. If dining inside is too much to deal with, then how about a picnic for the family. Since we are known in the Gulf South for our Poor Boys and boiled seafood why not stop by a local market or deli and get a few sandwiches and sides and show Mom that you actually do plan things for her like a special picnic to one of our State Parks or beautiful lake front views the Gulf South has to offer. Support your local businesses by ordering the prepared foods from them to make it easier to gather up all of the other things you will need to bring in order to make the picnic memorable for, not only your Mom or Wife, but for your children.

This special Day becomes a legacy for future generations in your family to follow. If you need a listing of special Restaurants, Markets or Deli’s in your area please email me at sn@bellfoods.net and our team will get you Restaurant names and contact numbers to make the process easier for you to go out to eat or pick it up to host a picnic. If you are a Restaurant call our office and let our customer service know that you want to be on our list for the general public.

As one of the owners of Bell Foods I am excited to be able to bring about market issues and awareness to market conditions that arise throughout the year. As a food service provider Bell Foods is constantly updated with new trend information that can seasonally prepare restaurateurs to buy better and save them money.

It is the intention of this commentary to bring you the most current market information to enhance your overall knowledge of what a restaurateur might be facing throughout the year. It is fitting that our updated site is launched just after the Easter Holiday. As the Lenten Holiday ends new beginnings take place for us all going into the summer months.
